How Parents Can Help
1. Volunteer to be a Parent Assistant Coach or Team Manager.
2. Deliver your child to practices and games on time with a soccer ball, plenty of water and all game and/or practice gear.
3. Encourage your child to have fun… focus on effort, not winning at all costs.
4. Support the professional trainers, parent volunteers and club officials, especially regarding playing time and lineup choices.
5. Contact your coach and team manager if your child is going to miss (or be late to) a game or a practice.
6. Provide your child with a light snack before games and practices and make sure they get plenty of rest the night before a game.
7. Don’t shout instructions to your child, or any of the players on either team. Refrain from making comments to the referee or to the opposing sidelines.
8. If you have suggestions, communicate with the coach privately, not on the field and not on the day of the game.
9. Make positive comments on the sidelines, and encourage all players on the team. Good sportsmanship starts with us, the parents.
10. At the end of the season, write your coaches and team manager a thank you note, or have your child write one.
